Almost every government job form is now filled online. A small mistake — a wrong photo size or a spelling error in your name — can get your form rejected. Here is a step-by-step method and a list of documents you need.
Keep These Ready Before You Start
- 10th class marksheet / certificate (for date of birth)
- 12th, graduation or other marksheets (as per required qualification)
- Aadhaar card (many recruitments use Aadhaar verification)
- Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) or EWS certificate, if applicable
- Disability certificate or ex-servicemen documents, if applicable
- Scanned recent passport-size photo and signature
- An active mobile number and email ID (for OTPs and future updates)
- UPI / debit card / net banking for the fee
Step-by-Step Process
- Read the full notification: note the eligibility, age, fee, last date and photo/signature size.
- Use only the official website: government websites usually end in .gov.in or .nic.in.
- Registration / One Time Registration (OTR): enter your name, date of birth, mobile and email. Write your name exactly as it appears in your 10th marksheet.
- Log in and fill the form: fill personal, educational and category details carefully and choose your exam centre / post preference thoughtfully.
- Upload photo and signature: in the size (KB) and format (JPG/JPEG) given in the notification. The photo should be clear, recent and on a light background.
- Check the preview: re-read every detail before submitting.
- Pay the fee: after paying, make sure the status shows “Success” and note the transaction ID.
- Save the printout / PDF: keep the final form and fee receipt — you will need them for the admit card and verification.
Common Mistakes That Get Forms Rejected
- Name or date of birth not matching between Aadhaar and the 10th marksheet
- Blurry, old or selfie-style photo, or uploading the signature in place of the photo
- Choosing the wrong category or claiming reservation without a certificate
- Submitting more than one form for the same recruitment (in many recruitments all forms get cancelled)
- Not checking the payment status after money is deducted
- Waiting for the last day, when servers are often slow
Made a Mistake in the Form?
Most recruitments open a correction / modification window for a few days after the last date. Its dates are given in the notification. Some recruitments charge a fee for corrections.
